Inefficient open fire near Kimbolton replaced with Jotul F3 multifuel stove and chimney liner by Fotheringhay Woodburners
This open fire grate and chimney hood was made by us many years ago in our forge workshop and we always make things to last. So although it has many years of service left our clients have decided the time has come to replace it with a new efficient Jotul F3 multifuel stove.
The fire grate and chimney hood have now been removed by a Fotheringhay Woodburners engineer. The chimney has clay liners but these are oversize for the new efficient stove. They're also in need of a thorough clean to remove the tar deposits that have built up. As we are ICS registered chimney sweeps we will do this ready for the installation of the new stainless steel flue liner.
The scaffolding is up and we can get to the top of the chimney safely for a good look to see if everything is alright and prepare for the new stainless steel flexible flue liner to be installed. We have used scaffolding as there was no access to the garden for a cherry picker.
The chimney pot was securely fixed already and so we have cleaned back and repaired the flaunching on top of the chimney to give a good weather resistant surface. A stainless steel pot hanger and separate birdguard cowl have been used to terminate the flexible liner which has now been installed.
The chimney is lined and the new efficient Jotul F3 MF multifuel stove with plain door has been installed in the inglenook fireplace. It is alight and is being test fired and our HETAS installer is explaining how it works and advising on ongoing maintenance as part of the Fotheringhay Woodburners commissioning process.
