Reclaimed brick fireplace built and new multifuel stove installed by Fotheringhay Woodburners
Our client had removed the existing wooden fireplace surround, black granite insets and hearth in preparation for the building works to be carried out by Fotheringhay Woodburners recommended builder. He worked with the client and us to ensure that the new fireplace design and materials were exactly what the client wanted and then set to work opening up the aperture.
The clay firebrick, concrete starter block and concrete chimney liners can be seen before the fireplace is opened up. The liners are installed the right way up and will need to be correctly supported prior to removing any part of firebrick and starter block so that they don't slip and make the chimney lining defective.
This property is of modern brick construction and has a concrete chimney liner system which has been inspected by a Fotheringhay Woodburners installation engineer and pressure smoke tested to make sure it doesn't leak. As the test was satisfactory we have installed a stainless steel birdguard cowl. A cleaning access door will be fitted into this gable end wall to enable the annual chimney sweeping to be carried out.
The aperture is now opened out and the concrete liner system has new supports installed by Fotheringhay Woodburners recommmended builder.
The fireplace has been completed by Fotheringhay Woodburners recommended builder and has been built from reclaimed bricks chosen by our client. The aperture has been lined with the same bricks although they had to be cut down as they were too deep and this would have prevented us from installing the flue pipe for the new multifuel stove.
The new Franco-Belge Belfort multifuel stove has been fitted by Fotheringhay Woodburners HETAS Engineers and is being test fired and handed over to our client.
